About this Product

These rustic Christmas trees are made with salvaged red oak. They have a live edge on the front, which gives them a unique character. If you prefer square edges, just turn them around so the back faces forward. The simplicity makes me think of Scandinavian minimalist designs.

The bottom base of the larger tree is actually maple because I ran out of usable red oak.

The large tree is about 14" tall and 7" wide. The small tree is about 11" tall and 6" wide. They're about 1.5" thick.

These are sanded, but not to a super smooth finish. I thought a less refined finished went better with the live edge aesthetic. They have a simple shellac finish.

Meet the Maker

I inherited my mom's craftiness, and I get a lot of joy from making things!

My current crafty focus is on woodworking and painting. Bringing the two together is especially satisfying. I love making fine woodworking pieces, but I don't shy away from throwing together something rustic using reclaimed wood.

Seasonal items are fun because they give me something new to play with all the time. I can always look forward to the next season if I'm caught in the doldrums. Creating something lovely and useful is my favorite. But it's also nice to just make something pretty.

If you like the style of something but prefer a different color scheme, please don't hesitate to reach out. Custom orders will take more time. But it's worth it to wait a little while for the perfect piece!

How it’s Made

These were made from a single piece of red oak from the scrap pile at the local lumber yard. I saw it and knew I could make something nice from it. I cut the pieces down on the miter saw. They are glued and tacked together with a brad nailer. They have basic sanding and a shellac finish.
